This article explains the DGE age-group water reference display. It is not a personal hydration or drinking-needs calculator.

Reference values, not a personal target

The display uses fixed adult DGE table rows under the table’s stated average conditions.

Four displayed components

The tool displays the DGE table components separately: water from beverages, water from solid food, oxidation water and total water intake.

Table example

For ages 25 to under 51, the stored row is 1,410 ml from beverages + 860 ml from solid food + 330 ml oxidation water = 2,600 ml total water per day.

Why individual body weight is not used

For some age groups, the DGE table additionally states relative ml/kg values for water from beverages and solid food. The checked source basis does not clearly document that they should be multiplied by a person’s current body weight. FreeTools therefore uses only directly published fixed age-group values.

Model limits

It does not model body weight, sport, heat, pregnancy or lactation and adds no activity or training amount.

How FreeTools uses the table

FreeTools accepts one defined adult age group and returns the fixed table row. It does not multiply a relative ml/kg value by individual body weight and adds no activity or training amount.
