Calculate tips and split bills into payable shares.
Open Tip & Bill Split Calculator →Tip splitting begins with the bill and the chosen percentage or fixed tip, then keeps the total exact when it is divided into payable cent amounts.
The calculator accepts percentage or fixed tips, optional total rounding, equal splitting and individual shares for two to twenty people. Individual percentages must total 100%; each person receives the same proportion of the bill and the tip.
The bill, tip and participant shares are linked by the selected rate and by a complete 100% allocation: tip = bill × rate ÷ 100; total = bill + tip; shares = 100 %.
It first calculates exact shares, then produces payable cent amounts. Remaining cents are distributed deterministically, so equal-looking shares can differ by one cent while their sum remains the total.
This checked restaurant bill shows why equal shares can differ by one cent while still adding up exactly: 47.50 + 10 % = 52.25; n=3 → 17.42, 17.42, 17.41 = 52.25.
Currency amounts are first calculated precisely; any visible cent allocation is the final payable distribution rather than a changed tip rate: bill, tip and total in currency amounts; exact shares → deterministic payable cents.
The model adds no tax, service charge, exchange rate or regional tipping rule. It allocates only the bill, tip and shares entered by the user.
